This studio is special in every way.

May 11, 2020

I always thought that yoga meant striving–, a tense and judgement- filled reach of body and mind for the perfect pose– which seemed always just out of reach. This created an unease and sense of baffling inadequacy around an ancient practice that by reputation was supposed to invoke calm, peace, flexibility and strength. But when I walked down the stairs into the clear and beautiful space that is the Wholehearted Yoga Studio everything changed.

It is not just the clear white open space, the wonderful view of the ocean, the scent of essential oils and the thrum of the meditative music. These are beautiful and well-chosen, full of joys. It is the whole vibration of the studio, mediated through its owner and teacher Araluen, that opens in the mind as well as the body a sense of freedom, self-acceptance and, ultimately, joy. At Wholehearted we are invited to be who we are, and to open to possibilities of both mind and body that invite ease and freedom. We are introduced to asana and pranayama, poses and breathwork, that serve us, and nourish us, filling up our buckets and letting us step back into our outer world with lighter hearts, calmer minds and bodies that are energized as well as relaxed.

This studio is special in every way. It carries the light of yoga to everyone who is fortunate enough to come in the door. There is variety, like Yin’s peaceful slow speed classes, and Yang classes with more movement but never hurry. There is Restorative with floor-based deeply relaxing peace for mind and body, and there is Pilates, to strengthen the core and improve the balance. Every teacher teaches from the heart. Everyone is skilled and unique, freely sharing their gifts with us in every class. I feel so lucky I found this studio. It brings me, every time I go, a new sense of the possibilities of movement and stillness. Most of all it brings me energy, joy, a sense of gladness to be alive, and, in our meditations which close each class, a deep feeling of peace.

Wholehearted is well named–it is the true heart of yoga, and right here, in our beautiful neighbourhood.

A non-judgemental and friendly environment

May 11, 2020

I am new to yoga, so apprehensive as to what may lie ahead. I was encouraged to come along to the Wholehearted Yoga Studio by a friend and I am so glad I listened to her. Araluen and all the teachers actively demonstrate that they are committed to providing a non-judgemental and friendly environment in their beautiful studio. You sense that energy when you arrive and always feel in a better place when you leave.

Highly recommended

Beautiful little studio with lots of great classes and friendly yoga teachers. Appropriate for all ages and yoga levels, in my opinion. Highly recommended – they do a $30 unlimited trial week and it’s really worth it 🙂

Full of people at different abilities with positive vibes

May 7, 2020

I was introduced by a friend to yoga by attending one of Chelsea’s amazing yin classes.

I was nervous to try yoga as I thought I had to be slim and fit and flexible (and am none of those) but Chels teaches in a gentle, inclusive way which promotes “your body, your practice” and a whole lot of love. There was no judgement, only a welcoming spirit and a room full of people at different abilities with positive vibes.

That was over a year ago. I attended her first class last night for 2020 and felt like I’d come home. The yin yang class is a perfect balance of strength, stretch, and restorative practices.

The new space is incredible! The fresh look interiors are clean, fresh and uncluttered yet so carefully and thoughtfully put together. Every detail has been considered by the new owner.

I bought a concession card to set an intention for regular “me time” and respite from a busy home with four bustling boys and already look forward to joining Chels on the mat next week.

Learning to have self compassion

June 7, 2018

Araluen helped me navigate through many things, recovery from drug addiction, relationship problems, learning how to be kind to and have compassion for myself, to name a few. She provided gentle guidance in my personal discovery and re-definition. She customized her approach to what was most suitable for me and I felt a connection that I have not previously found with other Counselors. She has also helped me establish a good framework for positive changes and personal development in the future.
Thanks so much Araluen.

I’m in a much happier place now!

June 20, 2016

It feels great to know how far I have come. A lot has happened in my life in the last year, some things I am still adjusting to. I am in a much happier place now.

Thank you so much for the role you played in getting me back on track, I am always thinking of the things we talked about and am always thinking, identifying triggers that could potentially derail me. I have a lot of confidence now, and know that I don’t needs drugs in my life.

Thank you for being a big part in turning my life around

I just wanted to touch base with you and let you know that today is 2 years clean for me. I am very happy and healthy without meth in my life I always try to remember where I was and how far I have come.

Thank you for being a big part in turning my life around, I really appreciate the time I had with you.

Thank you!

Thank you for a very useful uplifting session last Friday – it certainly gave us lots of things to consider. We have had a good couple of days – a few steps forward, then a couple in the opposite direction – but overall, we do feel more positive about the situation, more aware, and a little more in control more of the time. So thank you.

We will definitely be in touch to book another time in the next few weeks.
