Yoga Therapy
At The Connected Center, we use yoga for practising self- compassion. We also practice Yoga for Addiction Recovery. Yoga as part of our holistic multi-disciplinary approach to Wellness.
Araluen incorporates yoga into her counselling sessions.
Yoga can reduce feelings of stress and anxiety, improve concentration, happiness as well improve your general health. Araluen will give you a yoga programme to follow at home. This enables you to continue to develop your practice.
Addiction Recovery
Addiction Recovery is complex, confusing and overwhelming, but with Araluen's help, you can create your own path back to wellness. Drug and Alchohol Abuse Help and Substance Abuse Treatment are important. You do need support education and understanding to begin to recover from addiction.
Counselling from personal experience
If you or someone in your family is struggling with an addiction, I can help. I am a fully trained and registered counsellor and an Addiction Recovery Specialist. Having personal experience enables me to truly understand what you’re going through. I offer Addiction Counselling Services to both those with substance abuse and also to their family members.
Looking beyond addiction
People can get better. The first step is understanding your dependency and learning to trust yourself again. With my approach, you’ll see that you are more than the addiction. You will discover within yourself the ability to change. I can equip you with the knowledge and skills to embark on a journey of wellness.
Your family is our focus
Addiction affects the whole family. Recovery and wellness come sooner when everyone that is affected is involved. My training in the addictions field means I can work with families on communication, self-care, developing boundaries and mindfulness. By helping yourself, you are helping your loved one.
My Approach
The first step is to talk with me and share your story. This is an incredibly powerful way to start your treatment and gives us a strong platform to work from. From there we design a treatment programme tailored to you.
I work from an integrative and multi-disciplinary approach. I will only use therapies that are evidence-based, well researched and proven to be effective.
Therapy options can include:
Cognitive behavioural therapy: This helps you to understand the thoughts, feelings and behaviour that underly your addiction. You learn alternative strategies to counter the negative behaviours.
Acceptance and commitment therapy: This helps to realign with your core values and purpose, building a life you are proud of and excited to live.
Stress management: Addiction and mental health issues often go hand in hand. Consequently, I help you learn techniques to manage stress, anxiety and depression for example yoga.
